Emergency Care |
|
| |
|
|
| |
There are very
few true orthodontic emergencies. Most problems can be
temporarily solved at home and then addressed at your next
regular visit. However, if you have a situation you cannot
resolve on your own or are in pain, please call our office as
soon as possible to make an appointment. |

If you have a
loose bracket: |
|
| |
If the bracket is still attached to the
wire and not bothering you, leave it alone. If it is
uncomfortable, place some wax on it. If it comes out completely,
bring the bracket with you to your next office visit. Call to
schedule an appointment if you are not scheduled to see the
orthodontist in the upcoming week. |

If you have
a loose or poking wire: |
|
|
If it is
poking out the back, try to place wax on it. If it has come out
of the braces, try using tweezers to place it back in. If that
is not possible, clip the wire with a fingernail clipper behind
the last tooth where the wire is still securely in place.

If you have
sore teeth: |
|
|
Braces
can make the teeth feel tender and/or slightly loose as they
move. Take Aleve or whatever works for you for discomfort. Stick
to soft foods to reduce the amount of pain while eating.
